Volunteer

Volunteer With Us!

Our volunteers are vital in helping us continue our mission of making arts education accessible to the Sarasota community. Volunteers generously donate their time by helping out in one or more of our various departments from event preparation to film shoots to box office help and more. In return, they get an inside peek at the workings of our VPA programs, support our programs growth, and witness the process of taking an idea off the ground and onto the real world.

Volunteer Opportunities

Box Office

During our shows, the box office volunteer assists the box office staff by selling tickets for that evening’s performance. Under the direction of our Box Office Manager, volunteers help to keep the box office line moving and to allow the patrons to get into their seats in a timely manner.

Ushers

As patrons enter our lobby, usher volunteers help to direct them where to go based on their needs. Under the direction of our Box Office Manager, volunteers assist in finding the Box Office, restrooms, venue entrances, and seats, as well as hand out programs and monitor door entrances.

Hearts/Star/Love Notes

In our lobby area, we sell hearts, stars or love notes that get sent backstage to our cast and crew. This volunteer is responsible for the setting up, running, and tearing down of this station for their assigned performance. Cash handling is involved with this position and the volunteer may need to make change with the cash bank.

Art in the Making

We often need extra hands in the creative process too. This involves supervision in film shoots, transportation for students, organization of costumes, event preparation, or feeding our always hungry students. Many of these options do require a Level 2 volunteer as you will be interacting with students. You can start that process here.
