Johnnie Mnich

THEATRE MUSIC DIRECTOR

Johnnie Mnich is the Theatre Music Director for the VPA Program at Booker High School. Johnnie is in his 31st year on the Booker staff. He graduated from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, with a BME in Music Education. He has music directed dozens of productions, including Hello, Dolly!, Fiddler on the Roof, and James and the Giant Peach. Recently, The Apple Tree won first place at the 2015 Florida Theatre Conference with the third act, Passionella, and received awards in 2015 at the Southeastern Theatre Conference for Best Choreography and Best Vocal Performance. In 2012, he collaborated with director Scott Keys on the original musical Sleepy Hollow—A Musical Ghost Story which placed second at the Florida Theatre Conference. Additional credits include Godspell, Guys and Dolls, Into the Woods, West Side Story, Pippin, Oklahoma!, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Once On This Island, The Music Man, Hello, Dolly!, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Seussical, which placed first at the Florida Theatre Conference and the Southeastern Theatre Conference in 2004-05. Johnnie wrote Kingdom of Solitaire, an original musical, with collaborator Scott Keys, which performed outdoors during the pandemic.
